Novis is built for a big screen. It works in your mobile browser, but sources, the galaxy, and study flows are best on desktop. Get the desktop app, or open novis.study on a computer. iPhone and iPad apps are on the way.

AI study assistant · Built for retention

Tell Novis what you're studying. It builds the system.

Novis turns your notes, PDFs, and documents into an organized study system: sources, decks, a spaced-repetition schedule, and a weekly plan built around your exams. Ask it what to review and it tells you.

Capabilities

Everything you need to learn it, and keep it.

One system instead of five apps stitched together. Pick any capability to see what it does and how you use it.

Assistant

Tell it what you need. It builds it.

The assistant is the front door to Novis. It reads your material, drafts the decks and sources, and proposes the plan. You stay the approver.

What it does
  • Turns a PDF, slides, pasted notes, or a topic into decks and cards grounded in that material.
  • Answers questions about your own library with citations back to the source it used.
  • Researches the web when your library does not cover something.
  • Reorganizes the library: merge, rename, move, and clean up categories and decks.
  • Proposes a weekly study plan from your calendar, your due cards, and your weak spots.
How you use it
  • Type what you need, or drop in a file or image.
  • It returns a proposal, not a change: a summary of exactly what it wants to do.
  • Approve it and it applies. Reject it and nothing happened.
Why it helps
  • Every structural change is gated behind your approval and can be undone, so the assistant can be useful without being risky.

One system, three places to use it

Build it on the web. Carry it on your phone. Write it by hand.

One account, one library. Each surface does the part it is best at, and anything you make on one is there on the others.

Start here

Novis on the web

Any browser, or as a Windows app in its own window

Where the system gets built. Bring in your PDFs, slides, documents and notes, and Novis turns them into sources, decks and a schedule shaped around your exam dates.

  • AI decks from your own material
  • Spaced repetition with FSRS
  • A tutor that answers from your sources and cites them
  • Local-first, so it keeps working offline
Take it with you

Novis Study

iPhone and iPad

The same library in your pocket. Review what is due between classes, read a source you saved on the laptop, and ask the tutor a question without sitting down to a desk.

  • Your reviews, due when they are due
  • Every source you have added, readable anywhere
  • Add material from your phone and it is on the web too
Write it by hand

Novis Penmode

iPad and Apple Pencil

For the parts of studying you work out on paper. Handwrite your notes and flashcards, then send them to your Novis account and they become study material without retyping a word.

  • Handwritten notes and handwritten flashcards
  • Cornell pages that turn their own cue column into cards
  • Image occlusion for diagrams you draw
  • Sends into the same account, same decks, same schedule

For study groups

One shared workspace for the whole group.

Study groups usually end up scattered across separate decks, a group chat, and a shared spreadsheet nobody keeps current. A Novis workspace puts the group's approved sources, decks, deadlines, and discussion in one place, while every member still reviews on their own spaced schedule and keeps their personal library private.

Shared categories, decks, and sources
Threaded group conversations
Shared exam dates, with decks delegated to the group
Study a shared deck together: flashcards, quiz, and tutor
Owner, editor, and member roles
Personal decks stay private from the shared ones
Start a group pilot Studying with other people, whether that's a class, a lab, a licensing cohort, a bootcamp, or three friends preparing for the same exam? We are setting up a few free group pilots, with hands-on setup and direct support.

Questions

The things people ask first.

Is Novis Study free?

Yes, Novis Study is free to start and includes 100 AI credits with no card required. Paid plans add a monthly credit allowance and begin at $8.99 per month.

Can I import my Anki decks?

Yes. Novis Study imports Anki decks and brings your review history with them, so your existing scheduling is not lost. You can export everything back out at any time.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Novis Study is local first, so your decks live on your device and reviews work with no connection. Signing in adds backup and sync across devices.

Can it make flashcards from a PDF?

Yes. Import a PDF, PowerPoint, Word file, or your own notes, and Novis builds a deck from it. Every card stays linked to the source it came from, so you can check where an answer was supposed to come from.

How is it different from Anki?

Anki is free and more configurable, and Novis Study imports from it. The difference is that Novis generates cards from your own documents, schedules around an exam date you set, and grades explanations you write in your own words.

How is it different from NotebookLM?

NotebookLM summarises documents and answers questions about them. Novis Study tests you on them: it builds a spaced repetition deck, schedules reviews with FSRS, and tracks what you are forgetting.

Does it work with handwritten notes?

Yes, through Novis Penmode, a companion app for iPad and Apple Pencil. Handwrite notes or flashcards, send them to your Novis Study account, and they become study material without retyping.

What devices does it work on?

Novis Study works in a web browser, as a Windows desktop app, and on iPhone and iPad. Novis Penmode is iPad only, because it needs an Apple Pencil. Mac is coming.

Study with clarity.

Downloading the desktop app? Novis is new, so Windows may show a “Windows protected your PC” screen the first time while it builds reputation. That is expected. Click More info, then Run anyway.
